The artwork displayed here is entirely hand-painted with a kalam (bamboo pen) using natural dyes and resist technique on handspun and handwoven cotton.
The aim of this research is to study techniques and materials used historically, with a focus on resist application and color development to create early 18th century quality chintz. We’ve chosen to showcase some historic reproductions to illustrate the progress RedTree Textile Studio has made in this medium.

Chintz cannot be mass produced. We can work with you to create custom paintings and welcome commissions.
